Performing Arts Workshop, a 48 year-old nonprofit arts education organization based in San Francisco, is dedicated to helping young people develop critical thinking, creative expression, and basic learning skills through the arts

The Fundraising and Events Intern will provide administrative and project assistance to the Development Department. This is an opportunity for a college student or recent college graduate to learn about the array of non-profit fundraising initiatives, including: individual giving, grant writing, and events. The ideal candidate is interested in a career as a nonprofit professional and learning about fundraising. 

Term: October – January, 12 weeks, 10 hours per week. 

Compensation: $500 stipend (upon successful completion of the internship)

Work areas and essential responsibilities include: 

-Assist with the Fall Campaign mailing 
-Process individual donations, prepare acknowledgements, and update database
-Help maintain and update donor information in database
-Provide events assistance (house parties, donor appreciation party, fundraising events, Student Showcase, etc.)
-Assist with the development of various donor collateral materials
-Assist with social media activities 

-Provide support to the grants manager, including assistance in LOI/proposal writing, prospect research, and file organization
-Provide administrative assistance as needed

-Provide administrative assistance (filing, printing, copying, etc.) as needed 
-Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed

-Fiery passion for the arts, arts education, social justice, and/or education reform 
-Undergraduate or recent college graduate preferred 
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (and must be able to format documents to a professional level and create working formulas in spreadsheets)
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
-Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently 
-Data entry experience 
-Experience and in-depth knowledge of social media
-Previous fundraising or administrative experience a plus
